Hunter Tour Boots Review!

Hunter Packable Tour Boots Review 1

I recently found a beautiful pair of Hunter Tour rain boots on sale on Black Friday (Similar pair on Zappo's: Hunter Tour) and thought I would share my experiences with Hunter boots. Unfortunately, this isn't the first pair of Hunter boots I've bought. The first pair I bought didn't work out for me for a variety of reasons I’ll mention below so I ended up giving them to one of my roommates. The good news is I love my new pair - which makes me excited to wear them for the rainy Chicago weekend forecast!

Hunter Packable Tour Boots Review 3

Style:

Overall, I love the style of all Hunter boots! Hunter has really made your average clunky, heavy rubber rain boot functional and fashion friendly. I love adding pops of color to my outfits (especially since I live in the lovely snowy, cold Midwest) and Hunter has a huge selection of colors to choose from. Red is one of my absolute favorite colors so I got the beautiful matte red color.  Since I have longer legs, mid length boots don't work too well for me. I feel like they awkwardly cut off my leg in a strange place, so I try to stick with either really short booties or tall riding-esque boots. While I think the short Hunters are adorable, the tall hunters really suit my body type and clothing choices better.

Comfort & Size:

The first pair of Hunter boots I owned were the glossy red original boots. While they were absolutely beautiful in every way, I could not go anywhere without them rubbing against the backs of my heels. Every time I wore them I’d always end up with blisters no matter how many pairs of socks I wore. Given that I was a student at the time, I probably walked more than your average person would but I was hoping for a pair of boots that would be comfortable especially since I needed them on those messy winter days! Since they were so uncomfortable for me, I ended up wearing them very rarely and ultimately gave them away since they were getting almost no use in my closet.

That’s why I was so excited about the new pair of Hunters I bought this past Black Friday. While they aren’t the glossy style that I originally owned, they look equally as cute in the matte style. On top of that the new pair is the Packable Tour style which makes it so easy to store and pack on trips. A side benefit is that this pair is also so much more comfortable because the material of the boots is thinner and more flexible.

Price:

I bought my first pair of Hunters on Zappos.com for the full $150 price tag but got the second pair for a steal at $87 at Nordstrom Rack! If you're in the market for Hunter boots (and not too picky about the specific color/style of boot) I would highly suggest checking out Nordstrom Rack. While their selection is more limited, you're much more likely to find a good deal. In addition, the Hunter website itself (www.us.hunterboots.com) also has some great deals in its sale section for select colors and styles.

Functionality:

While I haven't had my new pair of boots for very long, I've worn it through a smattering of slush and rain successfully. The rubber material on the original style Hunter boots is much thicker and sturdier than the material of the packable Tour Hunter boots so they may not last as long as the original style but that's kind of the trade you make in creating something that's more portable vs. sturdy. In general, however, Hunters are not particularly warm so it's best to wear them with warm socks or invest in a pair of welly socks. I'm still looking for the perfect pair of welly socks as well - there are so many styles to choose from!

I'm in love with my new Hunter boots and so excited that I got them at such a deal price as well. I promise Hunter boots are worth the investment if you're looking for a functional rain boot that's stylish and goes with almost any fall or winter outfit (:

Isn't it funny when you put on two outfits on two completely different days and realize in hindsight that they are almost the exact same outfit?  Even though yellow is actually my favorite color, I'm somehow subconsciously drawn to turquoise when I'm out shopping because I always end up at home with a disproportionate number of new turquoise things! I loved both of these outfits and love that they really tie into one another. Winter outfits always tend to be darker in color so I love using bright colors like turquoise to keep outfits bright.

Do you have a go-to color that always somehow finds it's way into your closet? Maybe I need to branch out and take a break from turquoise! :P

What I Wore: Summer in November?

Image.jpg

This week was insanely warm in Chicago and despite being an avid scarf-lover, I will take any above 70 degree day as a reason to break out my sundresses. Sundresses are so comfortable and bring such a bright pop of color that they always make me feel happier even if I wake up a grump. Enjoy!

Day 1:

Shirt: Old Navy / Scarf: Target / Jeans: American Eagle / Shoes: Payless / Earrings: Charming Charlie's / Lipstick: Bellapierre

My favorite part of this outfit was the cute peep-toe heels. Even though the rest of the outfit was casual and cozy, the heels made the entire outfit feel a pinch more girly.

Day 2:

I was still feeling very fall-y this morning so the hues skewed towards orangey red colors. These earrings from Target are one of my favorites to wear in the fall because they bring a little bit of the outside colors to any outfit I'm wearing.

Day 3:

Dress: Target / Cardigan: Francesca's / Shoes: Target / Earrings: Charming Charlie's / Lipstick: NYX

This dress! It's one of my favorites to wear regardless of the season. The colors are bright but dark enough that they go well with tights in the winter and I love the sweet little lace detailing on the shoulders. I was super excited to be wearing this dress in November :)

Day 4:

Dress: Target / Cardigan: Old Navy / Earrings: Charming Charlie's

Apparently I was really loving these earrings this week - I didn't even realize I had worn them three days in a row until I wrote this post! I originally bought them as a set with a statement necklace but ended up wearing them alone because they pair so well with almost any outfit.

Day 5:

Shirt: F21 / Cardigan: Target / Jeans: American Eagle / Boots: DSW / Lip liner: Lord & Berry

Shirt: F21 / Cardigan: Target / Jeans: American Eagle / Boots: DSW / Lip liner: Lord & Berry

Unfortunately, the summer-like weather didn't last until Friday so I decided to make it simple and cozy with a flowy cardigan and sweet little booties.  And can we talk about this lip liner?! I never I thought I would be a nude lip color kind of girl but ever since I received this Lord & Berry lip liner in my ipsy bag a couple of months ago, I've been in love! I use this lip liner all over my lips instead of just on the outline and it stays on all day while making my lips look natural and smoothing out all the little discolorations.

DId you enjoy the warm fall weather as much as I did? As much as I love summer, it's also exciting to finally be able to wear layers upon layers upon layers for fall!
