You can always see the influence that winter has on my outfit choices because everything becomes 100x cozier! When the outside world is busy trying to freeze my butt off, I subconsciously turn to scarves, oversized sweaters, and fuzzy shoes for comfort. Lucky for me, looking cozy can still be considered cute (sometimes)!

My body tends to be very bottom heavy - a function of having small boobs, a big butt, and long legs - so I am loving all of the top heavy winter trends (big fluffy blanket scarves, oversized sweaters) because they help to balance out my body!

Stay cozy and warm out there everyone! ♥

Simplicity & Animal Prints

This outfit is a classic example of something I'd wear on a day when I'm running late in the morning and don't have time to think too much about the outfit I'm wearing! While in college, my go-to running late outfit was something along the lines of sweatshirt and yoga pants but since I've started a full-time job I know that no one at work is going to appreciate the baggy workout look so I throw on this simple combo instead: sweater + scarf + skinny jeans.

This combination looks so much more put together even though it's just as easy to throw on as a sweatshirt and yoga pants combo. I have a couple of sweater + scarf colors that I already know go very well together so having those ready In the back of my mind saves a ton of time in the mornings!

For scarves like this spotted animal print one, I try to keep the sweater simple in order to let the scarf really be the focus of the outfit without too many competing patterns. I like to center my outfits around a specific theme so I decided to throw on these Sperry topsiders because they have a touch of animal print on the sides! I love having a theme to every outfit I plan because it not only helps make planning the outfit easier, it also makes the outfit appear more continuous since all of the pieces tie together more thoroughly.

What is your go-to running late outfit? I'd love to hear your ideas since I'm always up for an outfit that lets me sleep in an extra half hour (:

herringbone + maroon ♥

Before this fall, I didn't have any vests in my wardrobe. As an all day every day baggy sweaters + scarves kind of girl, a vest just didn't really fit into my wardrobe - but since the herringbone vest trend has come around, this sweaterscarf girl is officially convinced! I picked up this beautiful vest at Van Heusen and have been wearing it almost every week with either a black or maroon long sleeve tee underneath.

I've found that the vest is really not as hard to style as I'd originally imagined. With the black and white base, the vest goes with almost any color, as long as I don't wear too many other crazy patterns along with it! Plus, it gets major bonus points for keeping my core warm and most importantly - having pockets!

The weather's made a turn for the colder here in Chicago (I'm writing this under two blankets next to a space heater - eek!) and despite how miserable I usually am in the cold, I'm trying to be optimistic this year and make a serious effort to invest in clothes that are actually designed to keep me warm! If you have any suggestions on brands and pieces that are tough in the cold weather, I'd love to hear them!
