The past week has been rough on me. After the holiday weekend, I had absolutely no motivation to do anything. I felt like a zombie most days - going to work and coming back without truly feeling awake or energized by my everyday routine. All I've wanted to do all week is snuggle under the covers at home while admiring my Christmas decorations! (And honestly, who can blame me for that?)
On weeks like this, I used to beat myself up about it - frustrated that I wasn't getting anything done and constantly wondering what was wrong with me. Nowadays, I'm a little kinder to myself. I know that phases like this typically don't last forever and instead, I let myself have those unproductive days. Whether that means cozying up in a favorite stripey sweater or binge watching four hours of TV in one night - I find that if I let myself just be where I need to be that day, the phase usually passes. No one is perfect and we can't possibly be at 100% every day, so be kind to yourself today ♥
Time for Turtlenecks!
I still remember my pre-teen angst days when I absolutely hated turtlenecks. My mom used to dress me in turtlenecks all the time because hello, we live in Wisconsin and as a responsible parent that's what you do when it's negative 20 outdoors. It wasn't until about 10 years too late that I started to actually appreciate turtlenecks! As much as I'd love to be the cool girl that always dresses in 10 stylish coordinated layers during the winter, in reality, I'm usually the lazy girl that prefers to throw on one top that covers all my bases.
This cozy turtleneck from H&M does just that for me. It's warm, cozy, and makes me look like a decently well put together human being without requiring too much effort! The pre-teen in me would cringe at this outfit but the 20-something me couldn’t love it more :) What are your favorite cozy and simple combinations for winter?
Muted Blues
So, I'm a color person. I'm one of those people that walks into a room and wants to paint every single wall a different color and get matching throw pillows for each wall. Seriously, I love colors. I've learned over the years, however, that colors like blue, gray, or black, while they may not be as loud on their own, should still be appreciated in their own rights! After all, they're still colors aren't they?
As much as I love bright, vibrant colors, there are definitely days where muted colors are more my cup of tea. Muted colors tend to give off more of a sophisticated vibe and on those rare days where I want to look more "grown-up", I always gravitate towards muted tones. Plus - one of the best ways to show off a new lipstick? Wearing muted colors to really let a bright lip color shine! What are your favorite ways to wear muted tones?
