I have been feeling so very spring-inspired lately! The weather in Madison has started to warm up which always inspires me to whip out all of my sundresses and bright lipsticks! Plus, going on vacation this upcoming summer doesn’t hurt either 😃 Since I graduated from college a couple of years ago, I haven’t really had a proper vacation. I’ve had little trips here and there in between jobs but they’ve always been fraught with stress because it can be incredibly nerve-wracking to end an old job and start a new job. For the first time, I’m actually using my vacation time to take a vacation. I know, groundbreaking right?
Before I entered the work world, I never quite understood what people meant by needing a vacation or needing a break from work. As a student, you really have complete control over your day-to-day schedule. Outside of classes, you’re free to study, to work, or to socialize at the times and places you choose. Even though I interned or worked through most of my school breaks, I didn’t feel like I was missing anything by not taking a vacation. After working for two years? I definitely understand the need for a vacation now. Working full-time can feel incredibly restricting (even if you have the best job in the world) and sometimes you just need a little time to wipe your brain of anything and everything work related!
What are your plans for the summer? I hope you get the chance to relax and enjoy the warm weather - and maybe take a little vacation of your own!
Spring Wish List!
It feels like it’s been so long since it last felt like spring outside that I don’t know how to dress for the weather! Does that ever happen to anyone else? Where it’s been zero degrees for so long and you’ve been bundling up for so many months that you forget how to dress for a 50 degree day? This month’s wish list is definitely inspired by the changing seasons! I’ve been digging around at my local thrift stores, targets, and homegoods trying to find the best colorful spring-y home decor - gah, can the warm spring weather please come sooner?!

One of my constant, never-ending life goals is to always try new things. I used to get frustrated at myself because I felt like I wasn’t running around having new experiences as much as everyone else. As I’ve grown older, however, I’ve learned to try new things at my own pace. I’ve come to terms with the fact that as a homebody and an introvert, trying new things is more about celebrating the small successes! I still love trying new things and hope to continue experiencing life by trying new things, but I now put less pressure on myself to try new things just for the sake of trying them.
One of the things I’m trying out? This whole high-waisted thing. I figure the belly pooch probably isn’t going to get smaller with age, so why not try to embrace a style that helps to hide said belly pooch? 😛 I’m still a little mixed on whether or not I like this combination (not sure if I like the mom-jeans vibe I’m getting from it), but I’m on the lookout for some darker colored high-waisted jeans to throw into the mix! What are your thoughts on high-waisted jeans? Yay or nay?
