Hunter Tour Boots Review!

Hunter Packable Tour Boots Review 1

I recently found a beautiful pair of Hunter Tour rain boots on sale on Black Friday (Similar pair on Zappo's: Hunter Tour) and thought I would share my experiences with Hunter boots. Unfortunately, this isn't the first pair of Hunter boots I've bought. The first pair I bought didn't work out for me for a variety of reasons I’ll mention below so I ended up giving them to one of my roommates. The good news is I love my new pair - which makes me excited to wear them for the rainy Chicago weekend forecast!

Hunter Packable Tour Boots Review 3

Style:

Overall, I love the style of all Hunter boots! Hunter has really made your average clunky, heavy rubber rain boot functional and fashion friendly. I love adding pops of color to my outfits (especially since I live in the lovely snowy, cold Midwest) and Hunter has a huge selection of colors to choose from. Red is one of my absolute favorite colors so I got the beautiful matte red color.  Since I have longer legs, mid length boots don't work too well for me. I feel like they awkwardly cut off my leg in a strange place, so I try to stick with either really short booties or tall riding-esque boots. While I think the short Hunters are adorable, the tall hunters really suit my body type and clothing choices better.

Comfort & Size:

The first pair of Hunter boots I owned were the glossy red original boots. While they were absolutely beautiful in every way, I could not go anywhere without them rubbing against the backs of my heels. Every time I wore them I’d always end up with blisters no matter how many pairs of socks I wore. Given that I was a student at the time, I probably walked more than your average person would but I was hoping for a pair of boots that would be comfortable especially since I needed them on those messy winter days! Since they were so uncomfortable for me, I ended up wearing them very rarely and ultimately gave them away since they were getting almost no use in my closet.

That’s why I was so excited about the new pair of Hunters I bought this past Black Friday. While they aren’t the glossy style that I originally owned, they look equally as cute in the matte style. On top of that the new pair is the Packable Tour style which makes it so easy to store and pack on trips. A side benefit is that this pair is also so much more comfortable because the material of the boots is thinner and more flexible.

Hunter Packable Tour Boots Review 2

Price:

I bought my first pair of Hunters on Zappos.com for the full $150 price tag but got the second pair for a steal at $87 at Nordstrom Rack! If you're in the market for Hunter boots (and not too picky about the specific color/style of boot) I would highly suggest checking out Nordstrom Rack. While their selection is more limited, you're much more likely to find a good deal. In addition, the Hunter website itself (www.us.hunterboots.com) also has some great deals in its sale section for select colors and styles.

Functionality:

While I haven't had my new pair of boots for very long, I've worn it through a smattering of slush and rain successfully. The rubber material on the original style Hunter boots is much thicker and sturdier than the material of the packable Tour Hunter boots so they may not last as long as the original style but that's kind of the trade you make in creating something that's more portable vs. sturdy. In general, however, Hunters are not particularly warm so it's best to wear them with warm socks or invest in a pair of welly socks. I'm still looking for the perfect pair of welly socks as well - there are so many styles to choose from!

I'm in love with my new Hunter boots and so excited that I got them at such a deal price as well. I promise Hunter boots are worth the investment if you're looking for a functional rain boot that's stylish and goes with almost any fall or winter outfit (:

Isn't it funny when you put on two outfits on two completely different days and realize in hindsight that they are almost the exact same outfit?  Even though yellow is actually my favorite color, I'm somehow subconsciously drawn to turquoise when I'm out shopping because I always end up at home with a disproportionate number of new turquoise things! I loved both of these outfits and love that they really tie into one another. Winter outfits always tend to be darker in color so I love using bright colors like turquoise to keep outfits bright.

Do you have a go-to color that always somehow finds it's way into your closet? Maybe I need to branch out and take a break from turquoise! :P

Black Friday (Weekend) Haul!

Black Friday is a crazy time that I usually try to avoid, but after realizing that many of the same deals are still available the weekend after Black Friday, I always try to at least browse the racks on the Saturday after Black Friday. This year, I wasn't too impressed with the deals I found but there were a couple of gems that I'm excited to share!

Bath & Body Works

Somehow, Bath & Body Works never gets old! I've been using their lotions and body sprays since high school and have recently become obsessed with their candles and wallflowers as well. I guess it's a natural shift since I've started living on my own and love walking into an apartment that smells like lemons/sweet pea/cherry blossoms. I also love lighting candles in the winter so I picked up some of their three wick candles, on sale at $12 each. Twisted peppermint is my absolute favorite!

Charming Charlie's

I always find time to stop by Charming Charlie's because I have an unhealthy attachment to scarves and statement necklaces. What I love about Charming Charlie's is that it's organized by color which makes it incredibly easy to find accessories that go with a specific outfit. I can never pass up an opportunity to add more cute scarves to my collection so I picked up these two classic little pashminas that were 2 for $10!

H&M

My personal style preferences have changed drastically in the last year or two and I was looking to update my wardrobe because I am loving the oversized sweater + ankle boots look this season! I headed over to H&M to look for oversized sweaters but was a little disappointed to find that most of their oversized sweaters were at least $35 if not $40 or $50!  While I'm willing to pay for a good quality sweater, I usually expect my H&M shopping trips to be somewhat of a bargain, especially given the Black Friday weekend! I still caved and got this cozy gray sweater for $35 because I couldn’t resist it's charm!

Nordstrom Rack

And last but not least - my favorite find of the weekend - these gorgeous red Hunter boots for $87 from Nordstrom Rack! This is actually the second pair of Hunter boots I've owned (I gave the original pair to a friend) and I am loving these flexible boots so much more than the original ones I had that couldn't fold. I'll be reviewing these boots and sharing my experiences with Hunter boots in another post soon so keep an eye out if you're thinking about buying Hunter boots!

I wasn't too impressed with the in-person deals on Black Friday this year and didn't find quite as many gems as I'd hoped, but I definitely got to knock out some of my Christmas list with Cyber Monday! Did you get any good deals this year? Got any suggestions for where I should be searching for the best holiday deals? I'd love to hear from you!
