Alright, so I'm pretty boring when it comes to hats. My hat collection mostly consists of beanies, beanies, and more beanies - but I've been seeing so many cute floppy hats over the past year that I've really wanted to go on some hat appropriate adventures so that I have an excuse to buy one! I received this pretty fall hat from my September PopSugar box (more on this box to come!) so I thought that gave me a little bit of an excuse to wear this and go on some hat adventures!

I have to admit, having zero experience in styling hats, it was actually incredibly difficult for me to figure out what worked and didn't work with this hat! I'm still not sure that this combination works, but I think the more I wear it, the more it's growing on me :) What are your favorite ways to wear hats?

Fall Beauty Favorites!

IMG_5823.JPG

I have to admit, fall is not always my favorite time of the year when it comes to foods and smells - pretty much anything fall scented is a no-go in my book. Cinnamon? Nope. Sweet Potatoes? Nope. Pumpkin Spice Lattes? Triple Nope (Sorry!). What I do love about fall, however, is all of the beauty trends that come back as a result of the chilly weather - so, here are some of my favorite fall beauty themes!

Dark Matte Lips

I could not decide what to call this section - brown lips sounded boring but chocolate lips sounded weird…so the best thing my writer's block could come up with was dark matte lips! In autumn, my favorite dark lip colors are dark maroons and matte browns! They feel like such autumnal colors and look so so cozy paired with a big fluffy scarf or oversized sweater. My current favorites are Colour Pop's lippie stix in Grunge and Bichette, and Pacifica's Power of Love Natural Lipstick in Tender Heart.

Peach Cheeks

One beauty mistake I often find myself making is accidentally mixing darker lip colors with way too pink cheeps - aka, the unintentional clown look. Usually my coffee has yet to kick in when I do my make-up, so I try to go for peach blushes so I don't have to think too much in the mornings! Peach blushes are the best of both worlds because they're neutral enough not to conflict with bold lips but still bright enough to help give a healthy flush to the cheeks! Plus, if it means I can think a little bit less at 6 in the morning then I am all for it :) My current favorite peach blush is the Cargo Cosmetics Powder Blush in Big Easy.

Neutral Eyeshadows

Since a dark lip color is usually the focus of my fall make-up, I like to even things out with neutral tone shadows. Neutral shadows are easy to apply and hard to mess up but still manage to give the eyes a little autumn-y feel to complement dark lips! My favorite shades to combine are from the Too Faced Natural Matte Shadow Collection. It's a beautiful palette with shades of browns and nudes that you can really mix and match as you please!

With all of these favorites combined - you get a very matte autumn-y look that I absolutely love and have been wearing almost every day! Not only is it easy to wear, it's also quite natural looking and can go well with just about any outfit. Now, if only I liked pumpkin spice lattes to complement my fall favorites….I'll just have to drink my peppermint hot chocolates instead :) What are your favorite beauty and make-up items for fall?

Although I’m no longer working in a corporate environment and could probably get away with wearing a sweatshirt to work if I wanted to, I find that going to work is still a fun excuse for me to dress things up a little bit! When you live in a pretty casual town, there’s almost pressure to dress down since no one else is dressing up and it can feel a little out of place to dress up too much!

After spending the last year in Chicago feeling underdressed, my wardrobe suddenly feels overly dressy for a town in Wisconsin! I'm trying my best to pair a little bit of a casual feel to my more professional clothes so I can get the best out of both worlds. For me, it's often a psychological thing. If I dress up and feel like I look more put together, I'm more productive and feel more confident going into the day!

What makes you feel more confident going into each day?
