One of the best things about the fashion world is that you can really develop a personal style that changes with you as your body and personal tastes change over time. While I might not have worn a crop top just a couple of years ago, over the past year, I've found that they can look very put together if you find the right top and do wonders for evening out my short torso!

I truly didn't realize how much my personal style had changed over the past year until I re-located to my hometown and got the repeated reaction that I now dress "fancier" than I did before! While I always knew that yoga pants and crewneck sweatshirts were kind of my sweet spot in college (oops!), I hadn't realized how drastically my outfits had changed in just one year. In no way have I been trying to dress "fancier", my clothing choices just started to change as a result of a change in lifestyle. Instead of dressing for comfort to trek across campus and spend late nights in the library, I started to select pieces that could fit in in both a casual or professional setting in case I needed to switch things up between work and home!

One of the amazing things about personal style is that it can change. It changes with you as you grow, as you age, and even as your belly pooch gets bigger (yep, that's happening). There are always new trends in the fashion world but the great thing about them is that they're just trends. You are free to adopt them or let them pass you by, and a couple of years later you'll be greeted with another set of a new trends to try. You can pick and choose what works best for your personal style and incorporate that into how you look and how that makes you feel - and how you feel is what really matters :)

PopSugar Must Have: August 2016

IMG_4424.JPG

I’m finally getting back into the groove of blogging on the regular - which means it’s PopSugar time! Okay - getting a little too excited here, but given all the crazies that have been happening in my life, it’s nice to take a moment to pause and get excited about my subscription boxes. This month’s box was focused on organization and I loved the variety that brought to this month’s box!

Baggu: Duck Bag - Retail $26

I was pleasantly surprised by this little bag - It’s very sturdy, goes with just about anything, and is easy to use as both a tote or to sling over your shoulder. I’ve been hauling around a laptop and hefty planner with me to work and have loved having this trusty bag to depend on!

Cargo Cosmetics: The Big Easy Powder Blush - Retail $26

I have really been loving this blush ever since I received it - it’s the perfect shade of peachy pink that goes with just about any lip color or outfit. Oftentimes, I find that it can be easy to go overboard with pink blushes but this Cargo blush is both a nice color and pigmentation that easily complements without coming across too strongly.

Triple C: PowerGloss in Silver - Retail $30

My phone is slowly deteriorating so this little re-chargeable battery comes at the perfect time! My favorite thing about this battery is that it really looks like a tube of lipstick - if I threw it in my make-up bag, I’m pretty sure I’d have even myself fooled! While I already have something similar, you really can’t have too many re-chargeable batteries…especially if you’re still running around playing Pokemon Go like I am :)

Cookie Pop Popcorn: Cookies & Cream - Retail $3.99

I didn’t like this popcorn much so I ended up handing it over to my boyfriend to munch on. As much as I wanted to like this healthier cookies and cream option, I think my brain just resists the idea of mixing savory and sweet things together - eek!

Unplugged: Dusti Screen Cleaner - Retail $5.99

This is an awesome product for me because I am constantly getting all kinds of smudges and dust all over my screen! I loved being able to pull these cute screen cleaners out while on the go. I only wish that they would last a little bit longer! After a week or two of usage, the edges of the cleaner start to peel up and no longer stick to the back of my phone :(

Christian Lacroix Paris: Paseo Sticky Note Folio - Retail $13

Who can say no to more sticky notes? Not this stationary addict. I’ll definitely be throwing this one into my bag for late study nights :)

I loved the wide variety of products in August’s PopSugar! My only slight gripe is that the August PopSugar box was really late - I didn’t actually receive mine until the 1st of September! Although this isn’t something that bothers me personally, it might be something to consider if you’re thinking about getting the PopSugar box!

What did you think of your subscription boxes this month? Know of any boxes you think I should try? I’d love too hear your thoughts!

Autumn Favorites!

AutumnFavorites.jpg

I have so many favorites this season and I am way too excited to share them with all of you! I love trying new products because I find that there are always new things to fall in love with - whether it’s in the realm of fashion, makeup, home, or anything in between. So here’s to autumn and all of my autumn favorites!

Too Faced Natural Matte Eye Shadow Palette

I have been absolutely loving this eye shadow palette for the past couple of months. While I hadn’t started exploring eye shadow until very recently, I decided to take the plunge and purchase this matte palette because matte shades tend to work best with my hooded monolids. My favorite part about this palette is that, as an eyeshadow beginner, you really can’t go wrong when mixing any of these shades. There’s a nice little guide that gives you something to start with and the shadows are all very easy to blend. While this palette is a little on the pricier side, I would highly recommend this palette for anyone with monolids or anyone who is just starting out with eyeshadow!

Urban Outfitters Sunglasses

I literally have the widest face, which makes it incredibly hard to find sunglasses that don’t end up looking overly tiny on my face! They’re also not too expensive as far as sunglasses go so it’s easy to throw them in my bag and not worry too much about if they get scratched. I’ve also been commuting on the busy trains in Chicago and these sunglasses are so dark that they’re great for hiding your eyes when you need a bit of a pre-work nap :)

Happy Spritz Peppermint Facial Spray

I’ve already rambled on about this favorite in my PopSugar box review, but ever since it showed up in my May box, I’ve been spraying it non-stop. This facial spray has worked wonders for helping me de-stress after long days. Just spritzing this a couple of times and taking a deep breath in has helped calm me down after a long day at work.

Fitbit Alta

My boyfriend got me a Fitbit Alta over the summer and it has been so much fun to use! I’ve been a loyal Fitbit user for almost two years now but have been trucking along with my old Flex for most of that time. One of the things I loved about the Flex was the fact that I could switch the bands to match my outfits - which made the experience much more fun! I love that with the Alta, there’s a display that shows the time, all of my steps - and I can still personalize the tracker by switching bands :)

Lord & Berry Ultimate Lipliner in 3035 Nude

I have been on a nude lip kick for quite some time, but have yet to find a lip product that I love quite as much as this nude Lord & Berry lipliner. The funny thing is that I’ve actually never been in a Lord & Berry store! I am absolutely in love with this lipliner because it is the most perfect shade of nude lipliner for my skin tone. It’s hard to find a good nude shade because “nude” varies so much depending on the person. I’m usually between a beige and medium shade in foundation so this “nude” shade leans a little more towards nudey-brown for my tanner-skinned friends out there.

Chrissy’s Socks

It’s officially September now which means it’s basically fall - aka it’s time for all things cozy! While I do much prefer the summer months, I can’t deny that there is something so incredibly charming and adorable about dressing up in socks and sweaters with a mug of something delicious :) Chrissy’s socks reached out to me last month to see if I’d be interested in trying out some of their socks and since I am a huge fan of fun, quirky socks, I decided to go for the donut and cat socks - because, honestly, who can resist donuts and cats? It’s moments like these that I realize what a great impact a small positive thing can have on my mood. Crazy cat lady socks make me happy. So why shouldn’t I wear them and enjoy the silliness that they bring to that moment?

What have been your favorite products this month? I’d love to hear about (and try!) your favorite products as well! Thanks for reading :)
